CARSON CITY SONG CIRCLE--It's On!

I think it was Jim that referred me to Patsy. Patsy and I met at Comma Coffee to strategize on how to start a Carson City SONG CIRCLE. We made a list of things to do. The first thing on the list was to post announcements around Carson. We agreed to meet the next day at Comma Coffee. Overnight I had the intuition that Comma Coffee would be a logical meeting site for the first SONG CIRCLE meeting. The next day we consulted June about it and she was delighted to host the SONG CIRCLE at Comma…See More

LOSTNESS OF MOVING

I have experienced the ‘lostness’ that comes from moving more than once. In moving it seems that I leave my entire past and self-identity behind and become anonymous! One kind of ‘lostness’ is having no 'work' outside of getting settled in a new home. Another is having no colleagues with whom to mingle and exchange ideas. We had spent 18 years as a part of the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) staff. The last 4 years were in Memphis, TN, and we had become quite rooted. It was September and we…See More

change the consume-and-throw-away consciousness and behavior to a sustainable life-style fed by all kinds of self-support and barter systems.

Quit mortgaging our country to China and start manufacturing the things of real need in the USA.

Recover the blueprint that Doxiatus (sp) (Greek) created in the 1960's of genuine neighborhoods that are built around local business. Make a transition from suburb sprawl to neighborhood economy/social structure.

Raise the price of fossil fuels at the pump to twice the current price. Put the realized capital gain in a fund to subsidize efforts to produce renewable energy.

Require NV Energy to purchase electricity created in excess of my normal electricity consumption.

Require the mining companies to pay an excise tax to the State on all of the metals they remove from the State of Nevada. Place the capital in a fund to subsidize local food production.

Hi David:

Glad to see you show up here.   We are just getting started and are looking for feedback on how to make the site more useful for building community.  One way is for each of us periodically share our community building examples with others through posting in the Blog section.  Let everyone know what your specific project is or what you are concretely working on.
