What is Conscious Community-Reno?
Vision
Conscious Community is a bold vision, a universal ideal for the world. It is a practical, community vision that brings people together to find common ground, and to realize that we are all in this together. At its core, it is a “spiritual” vision, in that we embody universal principles and virtues in the way we choose to live.
Mission
We are creating a better world, starting with ourselves, then connecting with others, and local organizations to build a self-reliant community..
If you're new, please read the short CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY BROCHURE to give you an overview of why and what we are doing.

How Does Conscious Community-Reno (CC) Accomplish its Mission?
Launched in 2003, CC started by focusing on building a network of 300 locally-owned and independent businesses and community organizations to keep money in our local economy. Later, we focused on being a catalyst for a local food system network whose purpose is to increase local production and consumption of food. Then, in 2006 we convened a meeting of over 100 community, business, religious, political leaders and citizens to identify common principles and vision to take us forward. Find out the whole story of our History.
CC Focuses on 2 Areas:
1. Social Network (http://www.consciouscommunity-reno.org):
Using the Ning platform, CC offers the following features to support a connected community:
(a) Search for people with skills and interests you are looking for in our member profile area.
(b) Search allied organizations in our building blocks area
(c) Communicate with other members through email.
(d) Share your passion and connect with others' passions in the Blogs
(e) Discuss any aspect of building community
(f) Events calendar--find CC and other allied organizations events.
(g) Share videos, photos of you in action or other inspirational media.
2. Face-To-Face Gatherings
(a) CC hosts a monthly Weaver Gathering on the 4th Wednesday at 250 Bell St.
(b) CC has a weekly planning and networking lunch
(c) CC is planning to re-start its popular monthly breakfast meetings--stay tuned
(c) Allied organizations can announce events on the website throughout the year

What We Stand For
We all share a belief that virtues are important, but they may not be in the forefront of how we live our lives. Conscious Community encourages us to “walk our talk.” We believe that the foundation to a sustainable society is in virtuous behavior towards ourselves and others, generating strong families, tight-knit neighborhoods, communities, and eventually the world.
The following list was the result of input from the community and from looking at the “core values” of many social institutions including service groups such as Rotary, business, the U.S. military and police departments, non-profit and civic organizations, religious groups, city governments, and more.
