Check out the Daily Good Post http://www.dailygood.org/view.php?sid=78 for an idea whose idea apparently has come...Neighborhood Little Free Libraries.
You'll get a feel for why www.littlefreelibrary.org had nearly 30,000 visitors in a week, stories on NPR, TV and newspapers throughout the country as well as blogs for book lovers. We are completely amazed. The motivator seems to be the yearning for community as much as it is the notion of sharing favorite books.
This concept has its roots in the same kind of thinking that created Conscious Community and Start Where You Live. Catherine Ryan Hyde, author of Pay it Forward, likes it, too, as do loads of writers, librarians, teachers, parents, neighbors..from all over the world.
We'd love to hear what you think, and how Reno/Truckee and Start Where You Live members might want to get involved.

Permalink Reply by Richard on August 31, 2011 at 7:29pm I absolutely love this idea! I am always going to Grass Roots Books for their wherehouse sales, hunting for literary treasures. I have so many excellent books that need to move on to the next blessed reader.
Building the little libraries would be a fun project and a sight to behold on one's regular commute.
